About Bobby Cheng-Yu Chung

I am an attorney practicing exclusively U.S. immigration law with emphasis on helping foreign entrepreneurs obtain the E-2 Investor Visa and EB-5 Investment Green card to reside in the U.S. and operate their businesses.

Since 2000, I have helped numerous clients from around the world obtain visas and immigrate to the U.S.A. through business investments, employment opportunities, and family relationships. I began my legal career as an Attorney Advisor with the U.S. Department of Justice, Executive Office for Immigration Review. As a government attorney, I assisted judges in making decisions on immigration removal cases, and gained insights and knowledge of how the immigration system works from within the federal bureaucracy. This invaluable experience inside the government has contributed greatly to our firm’s visa approval rate, because of my deep appreciation for what is truly important to the immigration decision makers. Beyond the technical visa requirements, it is crucial to understand that immigration officers are people like us with feelings and personal beliefs that influence their decisions. Addressing these human factors in presenting visa cases are equally important as satisfying the legal requirements in winning successful outcomes.

As a naturalized U.S. citizen, I am passionate about helping immigrants achieve the American Dream, because of my love for America and its ideals of freedom, equality, and opportunity for all. I focus on helping foreign entrepreneurs move to the United States, because my clients represent the American spirit of independence, self-reliance, and can-do attitude.

Foreign entrepreneurs are my kind of people, because they are exactly who I am. My immigrant story began in 1982, when I came to the United States as a young boy with my family from Taiwan. My parents were life long entrepreneurs and immigrated to the U.S. through business visa. My mother and father grew from poverty to creating a multi-million dollar business armed with only high school education and a relentless drive to succeed. The power of entrepreneurship and its ability to change lives became deeply engrained in me at a young age.

Growing up, it was a natural path to follow my parents’ foot steps, so I studied business in university, learned sales as a realtor, and started my own business. However, in my early 20’s, I realized the fuel that drove my parents to rise above poverty did not resonate with me, because I was fortunate to have financial abundance throughout childhood. I found my passion through helping other people achieve success, which lead to my career in immigration law. As an immigrant, I identify with my clients, and understand their concerns and needs through my family’s own immigration journey.

After serving in the federal government, I entered private practice representing clients in a broad range of immigration cases, including business visas, employment and family immigration, citizenship, waivers, appeals, and more. After gaining significant experience in all areas of immigration law, I began focusing primarily in the E-2 Investor Visa and EB-5 Investment Immigration from 2007 to present. I’ve found incredible joy advising clients on qualifying for the E-2 visa and EB-5 green card through starting their own businesses, expanding their foreign companies to the U.S. and investing in existing U.S. businesses. Based on tremendous positive feedback from many clients over the year, I realized that helping people come to the U.S. through entrepreneurship and investment is my life’s mission.

Over the years, I have had the honor of being invited to speak at numerous business and legal seminars, and interviewed by the media on immigration law topics, especially regarding the E-2 Investor Visa. My speaking engagements include Franchisors and Franchise Broker Associations; the National Summit on Employment Law and Compliance; HR Star Conferences for Human Resource Professionals; and radio and newspaper interviews.

I am a licensed attorney in the State of California and authorized to represent clients in all 50 States in U.S. visa and immigration matters, as well as, all U.S. Embassies and Consular Offices throughout the world. I am also a long time member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA).

I graduated from the University of Southern California (USC) with a Business degree in 1995 and obtained a Doctor of Law degree from Golden Gate University, School of Law in 1999. I am admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
