Hired Law Firm

I'll forever regret my decision to hire Barbara Jorgensen as my divorce attorney. My divorce should have been simple. My ex had a warrant out for his arrest due to a crime against a neighbor. He also had priors and had engaged in many actions causing great risk to me. He wasn't contributing towards the property payments, and left me with an unmanageable number of expenses that were his responsibility. Barbara Jorgensen ignored all of these circumstances. She even told me that types of support other divorcees were successfully arranging did "not exist" and that his crimes and lack of financial contributions were somehow irrelevant. She found his requests for money reasonable. While she may have advocated for her clients back in the 80s, her skills and focus had disappeared. She was often outright condescending confused my account for a delinquent client's, and sent a disruptive and embarrassing junior attorney to court with me. I advise steering clear of JG&L.

Hired Attorney Darin Rumer

Mr. Rumer was a chaotic disaster. He was very disorganized and made multiple errors. In his first letter to my then wife's attorney he asked that I be allowed to keep the motorcycle and the VW car. I have never owned either. He got me confused with another client, he said. I should have fired him then. It got worse. After initially agreeing to my instructions that a settlement be agreed upon ASAP, without a trial, Mr. Rumer switched to insisting that there should be a trial. He sent me just 1 of 2 crucial letters from opposing counsel, whose offices were less than a mile from his, over a week after they were sent. He then claimed that neither of the two emails ever arrived. A crucial deadline had been missed, so I fired him. Opposing counsel later confirmed to me in writing that both letters were sent via First Class mail and receipts for said emails had been sent to her via email. With weeks, acting pro se, I obtained a much better deal than Mr. Rumer had urged me to accept.
