Howard, Stallings, From, Atkins, Angell & Davis, P.A. commenced its practice in Raleigh in 1983 with Cader Howard (a respected business lawyer and litigator), Allan From (a tax law and estate planning expert) and initially forming the Firm's vision. Joe Stallings, (a former Wall Street attorney with a practice in complex commercial and litigation matters) together with Beth Atkins (a talented transactional and business attorney) were at the same time developing a similar practice in New Bern. In 1987 the two practices merged with Joe joining the Raleigh office and Beth directing the practice in New Bern.

As the Firm's client base expanded, we also expanded the number of its principals to meet the varied and growing needs of those clients. Jim Angell (a CPA, board certified business bankruptcy specialist and panel bankruptcy trustee), Joan Davis (who handles complex business litigation, real estate, land use and condemnation disputes, as well as serious injury and death claims), Brian Moore (who is a commercial and estate litigator and an administrative lawyer) have all enhanced the Firm's reputation for excellence.

Working with Brooke was a breeze! She was professional, genuine, responsive--all things you want in your attorney. This was our first time negotiating the complexities of a commercial lease, and we were impressed with how knowledgeable and thorough she was. Hired Attorney Douglas Noreen

After six months of research to locate the best estate attorney in North Carolina, I found Mr. Noreen. Everything checked out: the firm, their record, legal knowledge and competency, good people with integrity, principles, ability to communicate, persistence, loyalty, kindness. All my favorite qualities. An attorney who is a good person with expertise in the courtroom, handling the case and the client, and who is willing to do whatever is required to be successful without taking shortcuts is probably a rare combination. He proved to be dedicated and accountable, determined to provide good value without compromising, willing to hang in when times were tough until the end. I don’t know what more you could want from an attorney.

Hired Attorney Douglas Noreen

Working with this lawyer was an easy, great experience. Although I wish I didn’t need an attorney, this lawyer was a great one for me. He was professional at all times. He understood where I was coming from and did his best to look after my best interest. He heard my need and my heart and was on top of things to get the job done. I can’t say we won our case but I can say the lawyer got the best results there could be. I would recommend him to anyone and would use him again myself if the need should arise. He did his best to keep me informed of the case and steered me in the direction he felt I should go but at the same time he gave me my options. You can’t go wrong with using the attorney.
