Kivel & Howard LLP is a law firm with an office in Portland, OR. At this office location, there are 10 lawyers practicing business law, corporate law, real estate and 37 other areas of law.
They just wrote letters and if we needed to go any farther they referred to other attorney.
I hired them to help me get a security deposit back - the landlord had fired the Property Management Company - no new lease was ever written - but the landlord held back a large sum - I had to figure out that I did not have a lease and that I should have gotten everything back.
This attorney and his firm use Legal Shield as part (or all?) of their business model. He is unprofessional and rude in his communication, and tried to stir up conflict between family members. I believe his final accounting with regard to his attorney fees to be excessive. $200/hour for an administrative assistant is ridiculous. He claims he "drafted" all of the documents in the case, which I find hard to believe. At best, he used templates and then charged two hours of time to plug in case details. To compensate for the 25% legal shield discount, he overcharged from start to finish in this matter.
Beginning 2011 to date, dived deeper past the positive reviews, which I believe must be friends, family members, or submitting reviews from themselves. I canceled my membership with Legal Shield as the customer service complaints came off as concerning until connected to the supervisors overseeing the complaints. The Supervisors of Legal Shield do not know the law and therefore are intimidated and do not follow through as I attempted several times to spell these issues out with Not enough crayons! Legal Shield enables the attorney's lack of and the negative reviews are spot on! They are scammers, the entire Legal Shield and Kivel and Howard circus is nothing more than a money-making scam. HORRIBLE PEOPLE!
Beware of Laura Larson, she is the head attorney at Kivel and Howard and she is absolutely terrible. They will mishandle your case and honestly did a terrible job the last time we worked with them. The attorney Jeremy Macrogeanis was very negligent and mishandled our case. When we brought this to Laura, she refused to do anything about it and actually hung up in our face. You've been warned

I was trying to get a very simple issue resolved and the attorneys handling my case were an absolute nightmare to deal with. LAURA LARSON was extremely rude and JEREMY MACROGEANIS was very negligent and difficult to work with.

I think google reviews are more accurate about this place. They only deserve 2.7/5. Don’t expect any good advice from them, because they are not on your side. And they don’t have time for you.
