Can I ask a dentist to pay another dentist to fix his mistakes?

James Peirce Kelaher
Answered by attorney James Peirce Kelaher (Unclaimed Profile)
Personal Injury lawyer at Kelaher Law Offices, P.A.
You can certainly ask the first dentist to pay for the work but you can't sue him until you find a similarly qualified dentist to give you an affidavit that the first dentist deviated from the standard of care.

Is it lawful for a company to fire my husband after an injury?

Paul L. Whitfield
Answered by attorney Paul L. Whitfield (Unclaimed Profile)
Personal Injury lawyer at Paul Whitfield and Associates P.A.
There is a provision in NC law for retaliatory firing (firing him because he made a claim). If that is the case, see a lawyer. Sounds like he doesn't like them and they don't like him. Why continue the pain.

Is civil law the specific type of case or area of law?

Gregory Casale
Answered by attorney Gregory Casale (Unclaimed Profile)
Personal Injury lawyer at Gregory Casale, Attorney at Law
The differences between civil and criminal are several but the most important is that civil damages are monetary. Criminal penalties, while sometimes are resolved with money or restitution, more often involve jail, or at least the possibility of jail. Other distinctions include that criminal charges are supported by statute whereas civil decisions usually turn on prior case law (precedent) or the "what would an ordinary person do in a similar situation standard". There are different court and procedural rules and several other distinctions, but the primary distinction is jail versus monetary award upon an adverse decision.
