It is his debt to you, but you may be liable to the party who was harmed by your car unless you reported it as stolen.

I was in an Auto accident and they are telling me that my auto insurace medical money is exhausted and I have to use my medical insurance

Personal Injury lawyer at Law Offices of Kirshner, Groff Diaz
If you have a lawyer, he/she is in the best position to answer this question. Since I don't know the facts of your case, I need to make several assumptions. I am assuming your injuries were caused by another person's negligence and that person has bodily injury liability coverage (BI), or you have uninsured motorist coverage (UM). If so, you are entitled to recover damages, including medical bills, health insurance liens, co-payments, deductibles, etc., that are in excess of your auto insurance coverage (PIP). The insurance company for the at-fault person (or your UM carrier), does not pay your medical bills as you incur them, they only pay if you prove the defendant was at fault. This recovery would be part of your personal injury settlement, or jury verdict (if the case went to trial) However, assuming you are represented by a lawyer and the other person has BI coverage (or you have UM coverage), your lawyer should be able to find an MRI center to accept a letter of protection. That is an agreement where you pay no money up front and they agree to get paid out of settlement proceeds.  There are other damages you can also recover, depending on the extent of your injuries (your lawyer should explain all this). If however the other driver/vehicle owner does not have BI coverage and you do not have uninsured motorist coverage, your chances of recovering damages from the other person are generally not good in Florida. Again, that is something which is hard to answer without much more information.

Do we have recourse if my husband had a foot personal injury?

Salim A. Khayoumi
Answered by attorney Salim A. Khayoumi (Unclaimed Profile)
Personal Injury lawyer at Buchanan Law Firm, LLC
The smartest thing to do is hire an attorney licensed in the state where the injuries occurred. A personal injury and/or civil litigation attorney will have a much better chance at recovering ALL available remedies (or damages) stemming from the incident. One can always attempt to seek damages from the store by themselves (i.e. pro se); however, its best to hire a licensed experienced professional who has handled such types of cases.
