Can I sue the babysitter for negligence?

default-avatar
Answered by attorney Donald Keith Broad (Unclaimed Profile)
Personal Injury lawyer at Broad Law Firm, LLC
Assuming that this incident occurred within the applicable statute of limitations (2 years in Indiana), you can sue. You will have the burden of proving by a preponderance of the evidence that your sister was negligent in some way that caused your son's injuries. You can recover on your son's behalf his medical bills and pain and suffering. However, before suing your sister, I would check to see if her homeowner's insurance has any med pay coverage. If all you want is the medical bills paid, that might take care of it.

Am I entitled to any compensation if I fall and slip in a store because of a wet floor?

Answered by attorney Jon F. Schmoll
Personal Injury lawyer at Langer & Langer Attorneys at Law
Indiana law requires a store owner to keep the store in a reasonably safe condition for shoppers. If the wet floor was caused by mopping, the store owner should warn customers. If another customer spilled something, the store owner has to have some kind of notice of the spill or failed to reasonably inspect the store to check for spills. Under such circumstances, the store is responsible for your wife's injuries.

What can I do if my boss fires me for injury at work?

Robert C. Slim
Answered by attorney Robert C. Slim (Unclaimed Profile)
Personal Injury lawyer at Robert C. Slim Law Firm, PLLC
First, be sure to keep that email.  The reason I tell you to keep the email is that it might serve as proof against your employer in case he fires you or retaliates against you for filing a workers compensation claim.  That would be a big "No, No" if he did that. Second, contact an attorney who handles "workers compensation claims."  An attorney will help you get the medical treatment and wage benefits that you may be entitled to receive.
