Who is liable if someone falls outside the building I run my business in?

As a plaintiff's attorney I would probably sue you both and let a jury sort out who is liable. Maybe neither of you are. It depends on why the plaintiff fell and whether the fall was caused by a condition on the property caused by you or the owner.

What can I do if my child was severely injured at a church event?

Personal Injury lawyer at Wooten, Kimbrough, Damaso Dennis, P.A.
A church, school or any group having the custody of children has a responsibility to supervise and provide reasonable safety to them. This would include while participating in activities including what has been described. Failure to provide such safety may result in responsibility of each or all of these groups for the injuries caused to the child. The parents should consult with an attorney as soon as possible so all of the facts of the incident can be discussed and specific advice provided.

I was injured at a Starbucks when the wind blew a cast iron table into me. They have offered medical, lost wages and $5000 additional.

It sounds like you are being offered a fair value for your claim - without any significant injury or permanent impairment you would probably not receive any more from a jury.  If you choose to hire a lawyer, you will have significant litigation costs plus attorney fees, which would greatly decrease your ultimate net gain.  If your treating physician feels that you are fully recovered then accept Starbucks' offer.
