What are my options if my son was beat up at school?

default-avatar
Answered by attorney John F Brennan (Unclaimed Profile)
Personal Injury lawyer at Musilli Brennan Associates, PLLC
Your best bet is to go to the principal or other authorities at the school, ask for a full investigation and to have the individuals who have injured your son prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

Can I drop domestic violence charges on my ex-fiancée?

default-avatar
Answered by attorney Andrew Tyler Velonis (Unclaimed Profile)
Personal Injury lawyer at Andrew T. Velonis, P.C.
Probably, but it might not be easy to do. Historically, victims of domestic violence have been intimidated into withdrawing charges, so a District Attorney's office can continue to press a case even without your consent. Call the District Attorney's office, find out who has been assigned to his case, explain the situation and ask that the charges get dropped. Also get a hold of your ex-fiancee's lawyer, explain the situation again and say that you have contacted the DA, and offer to come in and sign an affidavit expressing regret and requesting withdrawal of charges. Unless he has a record of violent offenses, there may not be an arrest warrant issued, but rather an appearance ticket. Depending on what he is charged with, if they don't dismiss the charges outright, they may reduce it to harassment and issue an Adjournment in Contemplation of Dismissal, which pretty much amounts to the same thing.

Can I file a case against both the Airport Authority and Flight Authority claiming compensation?

default-avatar
Answered by attorney Gregory M Janks (Unclaimed Profile)
Personal Injury lawyer at Gregory M. Janks, P.C.
This pretty clearly is not a question of Michigan law! You will need to consult an attorney in the jurisdiction where the incident happened to see what Bangalore law says about such a situation. Further complicating these air travel cases are the terms/restrictions of the Contract of Carriage, so you need to read your ticket (or more likely go to the airlines website where they refer to the 100 or so pages of terms of the Contract of Carriage). Now you can perhaps argue that the Contract is inapplicable to your status as a business invitee on the airport property. Even so, it is a general rule of law (no idea about in Bangalore) that there must be some negligence on the part of the premises owner that caused/contributed to your incident and you haven't stated any facts as to whether there was/wasn't such negligence. Also consider any escalator manufacturer/maintainer if there was something about how it operated that caused your incident. Also bear in mind that damages usually have to be significant enough to warrant the cost, time and effort of making any claim/filing any suit.
