It's unclear if you are talking about a Worker's Compensation case (but it seems you may be) or a 3rd party personal injury case. If a WC case, then same is supposed to give $ to pay your medical bills and your time off work. If your attorney didn't resolve the case for enough $ because your attorney didn't collect all the medical bills, that is an oversight and your attorney should either ask the matter be re-opened due to a mistake and/or you have a possible claim against your attorney for legal malpractice.

What is my legal liability if a tree-trimmer cutting limbs over my driveway fell off his ladder into my driveway?

Hopefully you have homeowner's insurance. Typically most homeowner's polices cover this situation. You should contact your agent to find out but do so in inquiry mode only, don't make a claim just yet. The tree trimmer likely has his own insurance and hopefully he will not make a claim. Some insurance companies require their agents to report the incident as a claim if you call them to make such an inquiry, so be careful. Any claim can cause your rates to go up.

Can a local paper write about me in it concerning what I was charged with?

You were arrested. That is what happened when you turned yourself in. As far as the publication, yes the paper can print what is in the public record. I suppose you could ask for a retraction on the guilty verdict, but if you will eventually be found guilty, you are just asking for something that will come out later and the paper may make a bigger deal of it then.
