If I slip on a rug at a place of business and tear up my knee, what should I do to get things resolved right away?

In order to make a claim against a property owner (including stores, parking lots, apartments, etc) the injured party has to show either that the owner knew or should have known of the hazard, had an opportunity to correct it, and failed to take action, or that they created a hazardous condition. You might be able to make a case that they created the hazardous condition by placing a rug on a smooth floor without friction backing on it. Investigation is needed. As for the medical expenses, some business owners have what is called a medical payments provision of a liability insurance policy. Although it is not required, this provision will pay medical expenses up to a certain amount, regardless of fault. Liability claims are not do-it-yourself projects. You need a lawyer. I'm sure you can find one in your area who will give you a free consultation.

If I slipped and fell in a city building, injuring myself, what are my legal rights?

Answered by attorney Michael Alexander Yurasov-Lichtenberg (Unclaimed Profile)
Personal Injury lawyer at Havens Lichtenberg PLLC
The amount of the claim will depend on the facts which you are not likely to know now, or even any time soon: - how much will your treatment cost, in total? - how much of your wages you are going to lose because of these injuries? - will there be any permanent reduction in your earning ability? - will you require any future treatment (if yes, how much will it cost)? etc., etc. Suing the city (or a municipal corporation) requires you to serve a notice of claim within 90 days from the date of the injury. Don't miss this deadline.

What charges can I file against a camp after my son has been assaulted while in there?

Gregory Casale
Answered by attorney Gregory Casale (Unclaimed Profile)
Personal Injury lawyer at Gregory Casale, Attorney at Law
From what you state, it sounds like a viable tort claim to sue the camp for negligence in failure to protect your son. It was clear that the bully was threatening your son prior to the harmful event. The counselor said they heard the threat but failed to do anything to provide your son protection or notify you so that you could have taken your son out of camp or sought other protections. You should speak to a lawyer directly.
