In 1988, John and his wife, Ultima, founded Morgan & Morgan with a simple but powerful mission: to ensure that no one-no matter their background or financial means-gets outmatched in the courtroom by powerful corporations and insurance companies.
“I see Tim in every single person who walks through our doors, and I’ll be fighting for them all until the day I die.”
For John, the fight is personal. As a sophomore at the University of Florida, his brother, Tim Morgan, was paralyzed while working as a lifeguard at Walt Disney World. The Morgan family put their trust in a lawyer who failed them, and they saw firsthand how the legal system can chew up those without power. The injustice changed John’s life-he vowed to become the lawyer his family never had, and to continue to stand up for people who have been wronged.
What started as a small firm in Florida has grown into America's largest injury law firm, with:
1,000+ attorneys
50+ practice areas
$25+ billion recovered for clients
John’s leadership and impact continue to earn national recognition, with recent honors from Lawdragon’s 500 Leading Plaintiff Consumer Lawyers, 100 Managing Partners You Need to Know, and Forbes’ 2025 Billionaires List.
John's work extends beyond the courtroom, as well. He's led major ballot initiatives-like the fight to legalize medical marijuana in Florida and the push to raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour. Today, he continues to support causes that matter to families nationwide.

Beyond the Courtroom
Morgan & Morgan's impact isn't just measured in verdicts-it's in the communities John and his family support and the policies they fight for.
Raising the Minimum Wage
A liveable wage should be a right, not a privilege.
John Morgan has been a key advocate for raising Florida's minimum wage to $15 an hour. His efforts led to the successful passage of a constitutional amendment in 2020, with the increase being phased in through 2026.
Legalization of Medical Marijuana
Outdated marijuana laws need to change-for good.
John Morgan led the successful push to legalize medical marijuana in Florida, giving patients access to alternative treatment options. Today, he continues to advocate for full recreational legalization-a reform that would help correct laws that have unfairly targeted disadvantaged communities for decades.
Bail Reform
The justice system shouldn't punish poverty.
The cash bail system too often punishes people for being poor, keeping non-violent offenders behind bars simply because they can't afford to pay. Morgan & Morgan supports efforts to reform bail policies in Florida, fighting for a system that prioritizes fairness and equal treatment under the law.
Morgan & Morgan Hunger Relief Center
No one should go hungry when food is available.
No one should go hungry simply because they can't afford groceries. Through partnerships with organizations like Feeding Northeast Florida, Morgan & Morgan helps provide millions of meals to families in need.
Harbor House Domestic Abuse Center
Everyone deserves a safe place to escape violence.
Every person deserves to feel safe in their own home. Morgan & Morgan has been a longtime supporter of Harbor House, a domestic violence shelter that provides emergency housing, legal advocacy, and support services to survivors and their children, helping them escape abusive situations and rebuild their lives.
