Terry Scott Allen provided disappointing legal representation. He lacked preparation, failed to investigate key facts, allowed procedural errors, and didn’t protect my rights. I cannot recommend his services. Perhaps the most egregious failure was his agreement to elevate my charge from a misdemeanor to a felony without contesting it, despite no new evidence being presented. His contradictory statements about discovery only added to the confusion and further demonstrated his lack of preparation. Overall, Mr. Allen's lack of competence, diligence, and advocacy resulted in a poor defense.
Terry S. Allen allowed a part-time volunteer law clerk from the San Bernardino County District Attorney's Office to present oral arguments during my felony preliminary hearing. Furthermore, he failed to object to improper hearsay testimony, permitting a police officer to testify under Proposition 115 about double hearsay statements. These statements were made by a reporting party who neither witnessed the alleged offense nor had firsthand knowledge, but simply relayed information from the alleged victim. His lack of competent legal representation led to me being unjustly bound over to Superior Court.
My experience with attorney Terry S Allen was incredibly frustrating and disappointing. From the start, he misled me about critical details of my case, including falsely claiming the prosecution hadn't provided him with discovery. Instead of actively defending my interests, he repeatedly postponed proceedings, exacerbating my situation. Shockingly, he also waived my rights without informing me, leading to my misdemeanor being unjustly escalated to a felony. During the preliminary hearing, he shockingly refused to challenge officers' hearsay, incorrectly asserting it wasn't allowed, thereby failing to advocate effectively on my behalf. His lack of competence was glaring when he failed to contest the prosecution's decision to elevate the charges, leaving me vulnerable and unprepared. I strongly caution against hiring Terry S Allen. He deceives clients and neglects their cases, taking their money without providing the dedicated legal representation they deserve.
