About Peter Joseph Banfe, Jr.

Peter specializes in family law matters including divorce, alimony, child support, equitable distribution, custody, parenting time, visitation, relocation, prenuptial agreements, domestic violence, adoptions and college contribution issues in both pre-divorce and post-divorce matters.

Peter has significant experience with cases before various New Jersey Family Courts including Motions, Trials and other court hearings involving spousal and child support, enforcement of agreement obligations, relocation applications and various custody and parenting time/visitation related issues. Peter regularly appears in the following counties: Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, Mercer, Atlantic, Ocean, Cape May, Cumberland and Salem.

Peter was previously the Law Clerk to the Honorable Marie E. Lihotz, who was then the Presiding Judge of the Burlington County Family Part, who was subsequently elevated to the Appellate Division. Following that, Peter was a member of the Family Law Department in one of the largest and most prestigious law firms in the southern New Jersey area. Peter has also taught Family Law Motion Practice as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Rutgers University School of Law in Camden, New Jersey. Peter has also previously lectured for the Camden County Bar Association.

Peter has been nominated as a “Best Family Lawyer” in the category of Alimony in both 2015 and 2016 for South Jersey Magazine and was also nominated as an “Awesome Attorney” in the category of Matrimonial Law in 2013 in the same publication.

Super Lawyers Magazine nominated Peter as a Rising Star in 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013 and 2014. The selection process for the Rising Stars list requires that all nominated attorneys be under the age of 40 years old and go through the rigorous Super Lawyers selection process. No more than 2.5 percent of lawyers are named to the Super Lawyers Magazine Rising Stars list. Peter also received a peer reviewed “Distinguished” rating by Martindale Hubbel in 2016, a noted Legal Directory.

Peter is a Member of the Burlington County, Camden County and New Jersey State Bar Association. He was a previous Barrister Member of the Thomas Forkin Inns of Court. Peter serves as Early Settlement Panelist in Burlington, Camden and Gloucester Counties.

Peter Banfe Jr. is a lifetime resident of New Jersey and resides in Moorestown, New Jersey with his wife, Michelle and their three children. Peter attended Holy Cross High School, The College of New Jersey and Rutgers University School of Law in Newark, graduating from law school in 2001.
