About Blake Bauer

Blake Bauer started his legal career while still in law school as the Judicial Law Clerk for Judge Joanne Smith in Ramsey County Minnesota. While working as a law clerk, Blake handled thousands of cases and several jury trials, providing him with courtroom and trial skills. After several years of working for the government, Blake joined Marso and Michelson, P.A. and quickly became the managing partner of the firm.

At Marso and Michelson, Blake represented consumers who had trouble paying their bills, typically their medical and credit card debts. He defended hundreds of state court lawsuits for consumers and brought Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) claims on behalf of clients in Federal Court against harassing third-party debt collectors. Blake has always enjoyed practicing law in this area because he can make a real difference in his clients’ lives, and helps them in their time of need.

In 2017 Blake joined Fields Law Firm, bringing the Marso and Michaelson Consumer Law clients with him. This move was a perfect fit because the two firms focus on areas of law that are dedicated to helping people in need. In fact, Blake has dedicated his entire career to helping individuals who are dealing with life’s unanticipated circumstances. Blake understands and appreciates the struggles people experience when they are unable to work, and knows how crippling it can be emotionally, financially, and physically to not be able to support your family.

At Fields Law Firm, Blake focuses his practice on representing individuals with work injuries, disability claims, and credit reporting inaccuracies nationwide. He has achieved great success for his clients fighting against both the biggest insurance companies and the major credit reporting agencies. Blake has proven to be a fierce litigator that gets results for his clients. Blake’s goal is to help his clients get back to as close to 100% as possible while pursuing the maximum recovery for his clients' claims.

Blake was selected as a Minnesota Super Lawyers Rising Star in 2023, 2024 and 2025.

Blake has lived in the Twin Cities area his entire life. He played basketball at Saint John’s University and graduated cum laude with a double major in political science and psychology. Blake went on to study law at William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota. Blake excelled at William Mitchell, academically ranking in the top tier of his class, he was on the William Mitchell Law Review as both a Staff Member and as an Editor, and obtained a full time law clerk position for a Judge in Ramsey County, Minnesota while completing his Juris Doctorate.

Mr. Bauer is admitted to practice in the Minnesota state courts, United States Bankruptcy Court of Minnesota, and the United States District Court of Minnesota, the Northern District of Texas, the Eastern District of Michigan, and the Eastern District of Tennessee. In his free time, Blake enjoys spending time with his wife and two young boys, fishing, playing golf, going to the Minnesota’s Brainerd Lakes Area, and coaching youth basketball teams.

Hired Attorney

No one else would take my disability benefits case because I was able to find a much lower functioning job that did NOT meet my minimum income needs. Years later, I'm still struggling with after effects on my cognition and earning ability artery covid. Blake was willing to try, he was very patient with my chairs with communication and retention, and ultimately negotiated a small settlement which helped with my recently accumulated debt. He was respectful, clear, resourceful, and forthright throughout and I am grateful to him and his team.

Hired Attorney

I wouldn't give this man one star. He did nothing for my case. NOTHING! He kept saying during mediation I had the "burden of proof ". While he failed to collect anything to provide the proof. And there was a ton of proof to collect. I had many procedures including two brain surgeries, decompression of nerves near my brain stem and to implant a nerve stimulator on my brain. Trigeminal neuralgia, called the suicide disease due to the excruciating pain. One surgery had a rare side effect, anesthesia dolorosa, an intense burning, there aren't any effective pain relief medications, opiods did nothing, and there is no cure. Blake had informed me prior to mediation I'd be lucky to get $42,000. I wasn't going to work again ever. My job was getting from one day to the next. That didn't sound right. Day of mediation it got down to $42,500. Blake called that lucky. I was a wreck, it should have been stopped. Per their contract I had to pay all of the taxes, $8000, out of the $24,500 I received.
