About Barak Lurie

Barak Lurie is the Managing Partner of the Firm. Barak practices primarily in litigation, with an emphasis on business and real estate matters. He also has substantial experience in bankruptcy work, representing trustees and creditors. Barak’s clients include a wide variety of businesses and high net worth individuals defending or pursuing claims for breach of contract, fraud, and commercial disputes. Barak also has substantial experience in high-profile commercial evictions.

During his legal career, Barak worked for Luce, Forward, Hamilton & Scripps, as well as Christensen, Miller (now Glaser, Weil), top-notch large law firms. He also worked at the highly respected firm of Danning, Gill, Diamond & Kollitz. Barak also served as General Counsel to Donald Sterling, real estate mogul and owner of the Los Angeles Clippers. There, Barak took on major legal disputes for Mr. Sterling, and became a principal attorney in the successful appeal of Sterling v. Taylor, reversing the lower court’s decision. In addition, in 2000, Barak founded and also became CEO of his own company, RightPro, which developed a unique internet-based marketing tool for professionals. As a result of this experience, Barak became intimately familiar with the needs and motivations of entrepreneurs — having been one himself. After spending 15 years honing his legal skills in these firms, Barak started his own practice in 2004.

Barak’s experience maximizes the odds that a case will be successfully settled. “It’s rare that settlement is not the best result for a client,” Lurie says. “That way, the client minimizes the risk of a huge loss at trial, and can also have control of the outcome.” However, when trial has proven necessary, Barak has prevailed in court time and again, earning verdicts in the millions of dollars. His focus is always on the best and most cost-effective result for the client.

I was looking for an attorney to help settle a dispute with cousins and aunt with real property. I was not looking for financial gain but rather a cooperative settlement. Barak listened to my wants and needs and performed admirably.

Barak Lurie and his team at Lurie & Park are first-class, honest and were attentive to my needs. Barak Lurie and Steven Weaver were top-notch in taking a vested interest in my case and were detail-oriented. Their customer service was outstanding and I was impressed with their professionalism and cost-effectiveness in working with their firm. Due to my overall positive experience, I would absolutely contact them again if I ever required legal services in the future.

They made the best of a bad situation. We were highly satisfied with the outcome of our case. We had started our action with another attorney. After hearing a commercial for Barak Lurie I realized the mistake and we made the switch. Our attorney was highly competent and experienced in the field of product liability and it paid dividends. Thank you.

The reason I gave a 4 for value, is attorneys are expensive in general, and it would be great if there was a lower cost solution. Our initial meeting, if we had not hired Barak, would we have been billed for it? The reason for a 3 on responsiveness, was it took over one week to get the first draft of our letter prepared. After it was sent, Barak's office never indicated to us that they followed up, so we were in limbo wondering what was going on.

We had a very disappointing experience with barak and his firm. My elderly mother sought their help after her business partner stopped sending her dividends, completely cutting her out of the business. During our initial consultation, Barack assured us that this was a straightforward case. We paid $25,000 upfront, expecting diligent representation, but after four months, nothing had been done—not even basic communication with the opposing attorney. When an update hearing took place, the firm failed to address the crucial issue of my mother not receiving payments. I trusted Barack, in part because he presented himself as a person of faith, but unfortunately, our trust was misplaced. This firm seemed more focused on collecting fees than actually advocating for my mother. Extremely disappointed in the lack of action and professionalism. Sharks just like the rest of em.

RUN RUN RUN!!! As fast as you can!! I retained this law firm, everytime I spoke with Barak, he'd have me speak with his other attorney Michele and DOUBLE CHARGE me for the same information I just gave him. What a crook, he sits behind his desk talking big and bad because he's on a talk show and how he performs, honestly he cost me not only my case, but settled and what I was supposed to get, went all to his legal fees! If you're looking to be screwed, disregard this and pay 700 for a pointless consultation, that will be the start of your rabbit hole he's digging for you. I wouldn't even trust him with my groceries.

At our first meeting he looked slovenly and distracted and presented a poor first impression. He told me nothing I didnt already know, but still charged me $590 just to talk to him. Complete ripoff. He misunderstood my case completely. He spent most of my retainer drafting a complaint over a 2 month period that I didnt want. I wanted him to negotiate with Defendant and get my money back. He didnt even bother to call Defendant to start a dialogue. What a waste. Im filing a complaint.

Asked Lurie to evaluate a case, gave budget, instructed him to avoid litigation & pursue settlement. Lurie's reckless behavior led him to conclude I had a strong case that would hold up in litigation- based on a BS/flawed legal theory. Lurie did not adequately pursue settlement, drove case into litigation, blew through budget, forced case into trial. Before trial Judge warned Lurie to seek settlement- his case was doomed to failure. Lurie misread the law, over billed, lost me 10's of thousands.
