About Kenneth "Kenny" C. Human

Attorney Kenny Human’s eventual route to a law career began in dramatic fashion. A native of New Orleans, Kenny departed the city to begin his undergraduate career at the University of Michigan just two days before the city’s levees broke as a result of Hurricane Katrina. In fact, his plane was the last to leave New Orleans before the storm arrived. Though his family’s home was flooded and sadly lost to the devastating storm, Kenny persevered despite this adversity. According to Kenny, “Enduring the loss of my family home and witnessing the horrible things people in my city endured helped prepare me for helping others in some of the most difficult times in their lives.”

He later secured a Bachelor of Arts degree in The Political Economy of Crime with a minor in Spanish from the University of Michigan in 2009. In fact, Kenny petitioned the university to create this major with the support of noted criminologists Charles Bright and P.J. McGann, Ph.D. “This is an interdisciplinary major allowing students to explore all the forces contributing to the ebb-and-flow of crime in our society – I am very proud to have played a role in establishing this area of study at my alma mater.”

While an undergraduate, Kenny worked for the United States Marshal Service and Joint Terrorism Task Force in Houston, the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms & Explosives in the ATF field office in Washington, DC, and as a creative writing professor at the Parr Correctional Facility in Adrian, Michigan. Kenny still serves on the University of Michigan’s College of Literature, Science & Art’s Scholarship Advisory Committee.

While completing law school, he worked in the Harris County, Texas District Attorney’s Office, as well as for H. Wayne Roberts’ criminal defense practice.

Kenny is also past president of the Kentucky Criminal Law Society, an organization he founded for law students, past vice president of the National Latino/Latina Law Student Association, and was a member of UK Law’s Tournament of Champions Trial Litigation Team that competed around the county in Mock Trial competitions.

Immediately after completing law school, Kenny worked for a large insurance defense firm until March of 2014. During his time there he represented businesses and individuals in cases involving automobile accidents, slip-and-fall cases, construction defects, medical malpractice, insurance company bad faith, and other personal injury cases. Kenny then transitioned to a large Plaintiff’s practice where he was able to utilize his keen understanding of defense practices intended to minimize the claims of personal injury litigants.

Now, after having served countless Kentuckians on both sides of the aisle in over 50 Kentucky counties, Kenny has come to our firm being able to bring a more personal approach to his practice. For Kenny, a more personal approach will mean devoting himself to the individual needs of his clients and applying his extensive experience to the subtle legal issues involved in their case.

In his off-time, Kenny enjoys cheering for his beloved New Orleans Saints, spoiling his two shelter rescues, Marques and Colston, and advancing his Judo practice (he has an Orange Belt).
