J. Demere Mason, P.A. is a law firm established in 1999 with an office in Jacksonville, FL. At this office location, there are 2 lawyers practicing family law, dissolution of marriage, divorce and 55 other areas of law.
My wife and I worked with Demere for the relocation of her and her children. This area of practice appeared to be beyond his scope of comfort. We should have been referred to another attorney as this was his first trail in this specific area. He was unable to make adjustments in trail after things began to go away from his assumed path the proceedings would take.
To accurately sum up Mason Jr., he is a do-nothing lawyer. I retained his services for a year and spent $8k in that time. In that year, he couldn't be bothered to answer simple legal questions without a follow up on several occasions. He genuinely seemed not to care once he was paid. At no point during that 12 months did I feel like he had kept me in the loop as to what was going on with my case. Before my case went to trial, I fired Mr Mason. Mason's response was, "I understand your reasons." I then met with a new attorney for a 30 minute consultation. In that 30 minutes, I was advised that the opposing counsel had filed a motion to dismiss based on Mason's filing and it probably would have went through. During that consultation, my new attorney researched criminal records on my ex-wife's new partner and found a mile long rap sheet. I had previously paid for a background check through Mason that went nowhere. Firing Mason is the best decision I will make in my lifetime.
