How old do I have to be to marry someone from a different country and bring him here?

Answered by attorney David Nabow Soloway
Immigration lawyer at Kennedy, Nalepa & Soloway, P.C.
A person who is 19 years old is able to marry in Georgia, and if you are a U.S. citizen you indeed may be able to apply for your fianc? to get a K-1 fianc? visa that would allow him to come to the U.S. and get married to you within the required time. After that, you and he could complete a marriage-based adjustment of status application process through which he could become a U.S. Lawful Permanent Resident (get a "Green Card"). There are additional requirements for K-1 visa eligibility, and it would be wise for you to consult with an immigration attorney about that. Some immigration law firms, including mine, offer legal services on a "flat fee" basis so that a client will know the total expense from the very beginning, and a few immigration law firms, including mine, offer an initial consultation free of charge.

Can I apply for a green card for my family if I am a green card holder but they entered the US legally but overstayed?

You are right, as a permanent resident, you cannot file a petition for your parents or siblings. There are just no visa categories for them. Wait until you become a naturalized citizen before you petition them.
