Do I have to file both Form I-485 and I-130 together and does her passport have to be current?

Both Forms I-485 and I-130 can be concurrently filed with USCIS to apply for adjustment of status, assuming your daughter qualifies. It is not necessary for her passport to be current, but her last entry into the United States must be legal or with inspection to be eligible for adjustment of status.

How can I help my friend who wanted to come to US from the Philippines?

Answered by attorney Kevin L. Dixler
Immigration lawyer at Law Office of Kevin L. Dixler
More information is needed. Does she have the equivalent of a bachelor degree? Can the employer insist in good faith that the job requires an employee with a minimum of a bachelor degree? Also, that she has specialized skills that the employer needs? Filing for an H1b visa is expensive in that the USCIS charges fees in excess of $2000. She should retain a competent and experienced immigration and visa attorney assist the employer. It is unclear whether she or the job will be enough for visa approval. Also, the employer may have to wait until October for her to start, since work visas for her line of work may be unavailable.

Yes. He can apply for his green card while he is in the US. The entire process takes about 3 months from start to finish (if done right!).
