Would having a possible credit card judgment pending affect her chances of getting the reverse mortgage?

Answered by attorney John F Brennan (Unclaimed Profile)
Estate Planning lawyer at Musilli Brennan Associates, PLLC
I would suspect that your mother will be asked to pay off the credit card judgment as part of the conditions for the reverse mortgage. She should speak with an attorney.

What do I do if my mother has passed without signing over a power of attorney?

Answered by attorney Victor L. Waid (Unclaimed Profile)
Estate Planning lawyer at Law Office of Victor Waid
In light of the fact your mother is deceased, she no longer has the power to execute a power of attorney to anyone. Powers of attorney prepared during life, die when the maker of the power dies.

Do I have any rights to my step dad's estate if I have been taking care of him?

Answered by attorney Brian Haggerty (Unclaimed Profile)
Estate Planning lawyer at Minor, Bandonis & Haggerty P.C.
See an attorney; from what you describe, if step-dad left no will you may have no rights. You may be able to establish an agreement for the care, but this needs the assistance of an attorney and you need to do it right away.
