Is 20k to much for a lawyer for 3rd DWI offense?

M. Irene Wilson
Answered by attorney M. Irene Wilson (Unclaimed Profile)
DUI/DWI lawyer at M. Irene Wilson, Attorney at Law
Lawyer fees vary but this fee is not necessarily too high.  A DWI 3rd is a third degree felony and is punished from two to ten years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.  If your lawyer is taking the case to trial, he or she will  prepare for expert testimony and science so there is complex work to be done.  Good luck.  M. What does an officer have to do for a public intoxication charge in Texas?

Answered by attorney Robert L. Keates (Unclaimed Profile)
DUI/DWI lawyer at Keates Law Firm
For a Public Intoxication charge the officer is not required to administer a Breathalyzer test. they may rely on their own observations to determine probable cause for arrest, such as stumbling, slurred speech, or other acts. Of course, those observations are subject to scrutiny in court, and especially a jury trial, where your lawyer can ask about the lack of Breathalyzer use, but it is only one fact to be considered. I would be happy to speak with you concerning your arrest and set up a free phone consultation

Can I get a temporary license until my court date

Answered by attorney Kenneth G. Wincorn
DUI/DWI lawyer at Law Offices of Kenneth G. Wincorn & Associates, P.C.
The usual answer is yes. As long as there is only a DWI first with no aggravating factors. There will be a fee set by the county and attorney fees. You will need SR-22 compliant insurance and your attorney can explain the requirements of the permit to drive that will be issued.
