Filing for a divorce, i am a permanent resident, defnendant and kids are not, they are not in the US

You are incorrect in your assumption about jurisdiction. If they are present in the United States and you meet the residency requirement the court has jurisdiction to give you a divorce and to order support.

How can i get back the jewelry and cash gifts gave to my wife if we do not register our marriage?

It's not clear what you mean by "registered" - there is no requirement that a marriage be registered in New York. Recovery of gifts is generally negotiated - litigation can cost far more than most gifts.

My wife filled for divorce. I have been given 20 days to respond. Who do I respond too.

Morghan Leia Richardson

If you decide to hire a lawyer, the lawyer will respond with a Notice of Appearance. If you are trying to represent yourself, you would enter your own Notice of Appearance. You will send this to her lawyer and then file a copy with the Court. This lets the court know that your divorce should not be granted on a default; that there are issues that need to be resolve in your case.   Good luck!
