How long could it take for a judge to sign the final divorce decree once its filed in Travis County, Texas?

John Michael Frick
Answered by attorney John Michael Frick (Unclaimed Profile)
Divorce lawyer at Reid Dennis Frick, PC
Most agreed or default decrees are signed at the prove-up hearing when they are handed to the judge.  It usually only takes a few seconds. If the parties have a dispute about the contents of the Decree, either party can file a motion to enter and set it for hearing.  Any dispute will be resolved at that hearing.  That may require the Decree to be revised.  If not, the judge typically will sign it at the end of that hearing.

In the first stages of filing for an absolute divorce what are the chances of me receiving full custody/support and alimony?

Answered by attorney Robert Jason De Groot (Unclaimed Profile)
Divorce lawyer at R. Jason de Groot, P.A.
We cannot answer this question without knowing all of the facts and the financial circumstances. Permanent alimony may not be awarded to you, but perhaps rehabilitative alimony can. We do not call it full custody in FL, it is called shared parental responsibility.

Got married in 2 states to the same person.got divorce decree from the 1st state we resided in.will i have to obtain a divorcedecree from 2nd state?

Bradley Roger Gammell
Answered by attorney Bradley Roger Gammell (Unclaimed Profile)
Divorce lawyer at Gammell & Associates
As long as the divorce was obtained after the second marriage, you are divorced.  A valid divorce in whatever state you reside disolves a marriage regardless of the state in which you were married.
