You have to be served with a petition for dissolution, usually either by the sheriff's department or perhaps a private process server. The documents have to be handed to you or someone over the age of 15 who resides in the same home.

What do I do when my attorney will not do his job, I filed almost a year ago and still no divorce, no kids involved?

To get your belongings, your lawyer can do a motion for temporary orders. You can call the IRS if your name was forged and also ask the court (in the same motion) to order her to pay you your share of the tax refund and the unemployment checks. This should all have been done when it happened. The final disposition of the case will come at trial. If your lawyer hasn't done anything about this, either you haven't paid him to do this ($1300 would not cover a motion) or he/she is not doing the job in which case you can consult with the bar association re a complaint.

If the case has been dismissed by the court, you will have to refile. You can check with the Clerk of Courts as to whether it was.
