Yes, you can still file in Texas. You didn't stay in California long enough (six months) to take away Texas' jurisdiction over you.

You need to file in the U.S. in the state and county of your domicile. "Legal Residency," or "domicile", on the other hand refers to the place where a military member intends to return to and live after discharge or retirement, and which they consider their "permanent home." Legal residency determines what local (state) tax laws a military member is subject to, and in which local (city, county, state) elections they may vote in. In your case, it sounds as if you will file in Bexar County, Texas. You should speak to someone in JAG to ask them additional legal advice, as any advice from the JAG will be provided free of cost. Many divorce attorneys are not familar with real estate law. I practice both. I often have clients that have issues with real property that was not properly dealt with during the divorce. If your divorce attorney did not draft the proper real estate documents or make your divorce decree a muniment of title, then you will need to seek out a real estate attorney.
