How should I go about this divorce and how can I make my ex pay me for what he owes and child support?

Answered by attorney Helene Ellenbogen (Unclaimed Profile)
Divorce lawyer at Law Offices of Helene Ellenbogen P.S.
Unless you filed for a dissolution, and made a motion for child support, he had no duty to pay any until there was an order. It sounds like the state filed because you were receiving a public benefit for the child. If DCS calculated $72/month, that must be what was the statutory amount of child support counting both your incomes. What he owes or doesn't owe is part of the division of assets and liabilities in the divorce.

Does child support stop if the child gets a job in Florida?

Read the final judgment. They will usually say that child support stops if the child becomes fully self-supporting. Getting a job does not make a child fully self-supporting, nor does it emancipate a child.

Is a deed that was signed before she was granted the property in court settlement valid?

Robert Joseph Merlin
Answered by attorney Robert Joseph Merlin (Unclaimed Profile)
Divorce lawyer at Robert J. Merlin, P.A.
If she signed the note for the loan, she is liable for the loan even if she transferred title to someone else, regardless of whether it is her kids. IN many loan documents, the transfer could trigger an acceleration of the note so that the entire outstanding balance is due at once.
