Is filing fee for legal separation of $435 for each husband and wife or for both?

default-avatar
Answered by attorney Robert Andrew Michael Burns (Unclaimed Profile)
Divorce lawyer at Law Office of Robert Burns
The fee is per party who "appears" in the case. A party who defaults pays nothing. And, a waiver of fees and costs can be obtained; government benefits or income below a specified threshold guarantees eligibility.

How to get final divorce decree expedited?

Answered by attorney Amanda Bowden Johnson
Divorce lawyer at The Houser Law Firm, P.C.
This type of question requires some tough love. So, wow! You mucked it up 3 times and still haven't learned to hire an attorney. Dude, under baseball rules - you're out! Your in for $675 in court cost alone unless you are eligible to file as an indigent, in which case you're just a burden on the courts already strained resources. You could have had this done a long time ago for a flat fee of $395 - which covers everything. You have most likely unloaded way more than that in a silly attempt to save a few bucks doing it yourself. You know, I am sure you would not slice yourself open and yank out your appendix to save a buck on doctors bills, so what is it about the law that makes people think they are capable of doing it themselves when they have absolutely no idea what they are doing? Yes, there is a way to expedite your divorce! Hire an attorney to find out or go to law school for 3 years.

Do I qualify for spousal support?

default-avatar
Answered by attorney Barbara Peyton (Unclaimed Profile)
Divorce lawyer at Peyton & Associates
Spousal support is based on the relative incomes of the parties. Meet with a family law attorney at least for an initial consultation to get a better idea of how much you might get. Sometimes when incomes are fairly even there is no spousal support. The court can retain jurisdiction, however, to award spousal support to either one of you in the future should either of you lose your job or your income should change substantially.
