What happens if my wife gets a lawyer and I can’t afford a lawyer?

Answered by attorney Eric K Johnson (Unclaimed Profile)
Divorce lawyer at Utah Family Law LC
Then your wife should have assuming that her attorney is any good a distinct advantage over you in the divorce action. Some people think they can have an attorney "appointed by the state" to represent them in the divorce action. In Utah, this is simply not true. Attorneys are only appointed for defendants in criminal cases and only where the defendant is so poor that he or she has been found to be unable to afford legal representation.

How do I modify my divorce decree from New Jersey now that I live in Virginia

Answered by attorney Diana L. Anderson
Divorce lawyer at Diana L. Anderson
If you want relief form the NEw Jersey Courts you will have to apply to the New Jersey Court.  It will be easiest to do that, because your ex-wife still lives here and the New Jersey Court has jurisdiction over her.  There are documents you can look at online at the New Jersey Judiciary Website, and you might be able to do this on your own.

Any property owned prior to marriage is non-marital property. Anything added to non-marital property, such as a bank account, during the marriage is marital property.
