File for divorce. File for a hearing regarding the car. If you are both on the loan, the loan company may refuse to let one person take the entire loan over, especially if she is not working.

What can I do if my ex is requesting for alimony after judgment?

default-avatar
Answered by attorney Sheryl Susan Graf (Unclaimed Profile)
Divorce lawyer at Law Offices of Sheryl S. Graf
If your judgment states that the court terminated its jurisdiction over the issue of spousal support, then your ex cannot come back to court to ask for support. However, if your ex timely files for a court hearing and obtains an order setting aside the judgment, then you start over with resolution of all issues in your divorce, including property division and spousal support. The courts are typically very liberal about setting aside default judgments if a proper motion requesting set-aside is filed within 6 months of the date the default was entered. I recommend that you seek the advice of an attorney experienced in handling family law matters for some specific advice based on your particular circumstances. The information presented here is general in nature and should not be construed to be formal legal advice, nor the formation of a lawyer/client relationship.

How can I verify the status of my marriage?

Call the clerk of the court from the county in which you filed your petition for dissolution. Ask the clerk whether a judgment was ever filed; if so, request a copy of the judgment paperwork.
