Can I be accused of blackmail?

Answered by attorney Mark T. Peters (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at Peters Law, PLLC
Technically, it is called an abuse of process. However, if you cooperate with the state, you can then claim, possibly whistle blower status and make it look like they are persecuting you. Talk with a local attorney about all of the issues.

What happens when I am charged for domestic violence?

Thomas J Tomko
Answered by attorney Thomas J Tomko (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at Thomas J. Tomko, Attorney at Law
Thank you for your inquiry Domestic violence is a subset of assault and battery. It is the non-consensual harmful or offensive touching of another, or putting the person in imminent fear of same. An added element is that the persons live or lived together, or they share parentage of a child. The offense is a misdemeanor, and there is a first offender treatment under MCL 769.4a. This posture of the case will effectively keep the matter off your public record. I hope that this was helpful. For more information, your friend should contact the office and make an appointment oto discuss the facts in his case and what options he will face.

If items were stolen from my work, should I take lie detector test?

default-avatar
Answered by attorney Alison Lee Bermant (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at Alison Bermant, Attorney at Law
Nothing will happen to you if you refuse because lie detector tests are inadmissible in court. However it may benefit you to exonerate yourself from any further suspicion. I suggest contacting a local attorney who may be familiar with the officer who conducts the test in your area for further insight.
