What are the consequences of a victim recanting their story in a misdemeanor case?

Cynthia Russell Henley
Answered by attorney Cynthia Russell Henley (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at Cynthia Henley
The State hears recantations all the time from complainants in assault cases. They could charge you with false report but at least in most counties, they will not. Their theory is your new story is a lie and it is being made up because you have been victimized. Even if you recant, most times, they will still pursue charges.

How can I get my time to do community service extended?

Answered by attorney Mark R. Thiessen

Either contact your attorney in Corpus. Or the probation officer in Corpus. You may need to hire an attorney in Houston if you can't get it done. You absolutely must comply with your terms of probation.
