As a witness you do not have any right to remain silent. If you refuse to testify the prosecutor can ask that you be jailed until you cooperate.

Because it is under $50, it is a class C & punishable by a fine only. But, you do not want a crime of moral turpitude on your record so you need to get a deferred disposition so you can later expunge the matter.
