Is there a criminal charge for missing a court date?

default-avatar
Answered by attorney Bahram Madaen (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at Madaen Law, Inc.
There is no criminal charges if you don't show up to the civil court for the hearing. But you cannot miss the debtor's examination since you disobey the court order. Usually the debtor's examination is after the last court hearing the best way to stop all the court hearing is to bring a bankruptcy. Let me know if you need help with your bankruptcy.

Can a judge dismiss my case if I planned on joining the military?

default-avatar
Answered by attorney Eric J Trabin (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at The Trabin Law Firm, P.L.
No, going to the military by and of itself is not a basis for the case to be dismissed nor does the judge have that sort of authority. Going to the military can't be a "get out of jail free" card. Try to resolve your case as soon as possible. The judge and prosecutor will likely take your military service into account, but not necessarily dismiss the case because of it.
