Should I get an expungement after case is dismissed at preliminary hearing or should I just leave it at that?

Jared Clayton Austin
Answered by attorney Jared Clayton Austin (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at Austin Legal Services, PLC
You can only expunge convictions, not charges that were dismissed. If you were not convicted of the charge then there is nothing to expunge.

What can I do if I am accused of stealing?

Answered by attorney Loren M. Dickstein
Criminal Law lawyer at Lewis Dickstein P.L.L.C.
The offense your describing is a felony called Uttering and Publishing. The maximum possible prison sentence is 14 years in prison. The good news is that unless someone has an extensive criminal record, jail or prison is rarely given for that offense. Hire an experienced criminal defense attorney right away.

There is only one person to ask this question of, perhaps two. You are ready taking the advice of your probation officer and you have engaged an attorney who has the best information with which to answer your question. Take their advice.
