Would not the sheriff just ask judge for warrant if he had enough evidence?

Answered by attorney Mark R. Thiessen
Criminal Law lawyer at Thiessen Law Firm
Yes. Do not go to the station without an attorney. And as an attorney I would not ever cooperate with the police. Sounds like they don't have enough and are going to do more fishing with her.

Can the district attorney drop charges against me?

Cynthia Russell Henley
Answered by attorney Cynthia Russell Henley (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at Cynthia Henley
Have you been charged? If so, you need a lawyer to represent you. The DA can drop charges (or not file them so you might be better off to get a lawyer regardless of whether or not you have been charged.) Keep up whatever bargain you made about making restitution and finishing paying it off - the sooner the better usually (but follow the lawyer's advice first.) You might also want to contact a bondsman to keep a lookout for a warrant so you can make a non arrest bond.

If you are trying to get into the military, you should be sure that all of your ducks are in a row first. Speak with an attorney that does Criminal Defense. He or she should be able to help you. Good luck.
