Will I get jail time for a first time shoplifting offense of only $80?

Michael Todd Hampton
Answered by attorney Michael Todd Hampton (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at M. Todd Hampton, P.C.
Any lawyer will be hesitant to answer that without actually representing you and knowing the full facts of the case. Jail is certainly a possibility, but probation and/or a monetary fine are also options. At this point, if there is jail involved, bail will likely not be an option because it would be actual sentence. Try talking with a local lawyer or the public defender's office.

It would depend upon the facts, you have not given any. Rape is a very serious crime, in Florida we call it sexual battery, and it is a 15 year potential prison sentence.
