What kind of sentence is someone looking at for felony possession of more than one ounce?

Answered by attorney Lawrence Thomas Lewis (Unclaimed Profile)

He can go to prison. I suspect that unless his record is problematic he will be placed on probation. I suspect th charge will be a sale of marijuana charge since the police contacted him about buying marijuana. The problems is not probation but what will happen when he violates probation. Remember, the police called him with the expectation that he could deliver marijuana - i.e. DRUG DEALER. Good luck.

If you are convicted, 0-90 days for a first offense in Washington. If it is a first offense however, you should contact a lawyer soon. There are several ways to avoid a conviction, and often avoid jail entirely.
