Did this happen in CA? As far as I know, Hurricane Sandy has not affected the west coast. It's actually sunny and nice here.

If you are arrested for shoplifting, can the store keep items of yours that did not come from their store?

No. If the store took items that belonged to you then they in effect would be stealing from you. The store is only entitled to the return of the items that you took from it, provided they were not consumed or destroyed.

your husband is experiencing a common occurence. the NJ computers have been greatly improved and they are 'catching' old violations or old fines which have not been paid. we are doing multiple cases like your husband's case involving teachers, coaches, nurses, etc. your husband has to 'pay' the old fines and possibly 'contempt' charges for failure to timely pay. we had one person who had 7 outstanding warrants in 7 different places. we took our time and paid all the fines. please let us know if we can help. you should address all the warrants. ed dimon, esq. 732-797-1600
