What will happen if I did not pay my fines or go to my court date?

John E. DeVito
Answered by attorney John E. DeVito (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at John DeVito
Failing to appear for a court date will result in a warrant for your arrest. If the warrant issued yesterday and you appear in court within the next day, the court may waive the usual $50 fee associated with removing a default warrant. The probation department and the court in all likelihood will give you additional time to pay fines that you have not paid. They may also give you additional time to finish your community service. If you have completely ignored the court and have paid no fines and have performed no community service you could be facing a more serious sanctions from the court. It would be advisable for you to appear in court on your own as opposed to being arrested by the police on the warrant.

Can I own a registered gun although my husband is a convicted felon of drug possession?

Answered by attorney Kathryn L. Hudson (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at Law Office of Kathryn L. Hudson
Having the gun in the house is risky, although if the gun is under lock and key and clearly registered to you as long as he is not in possession such as being seen holding it or otherwise in control of the gun a case can be made he is not violation. I would recommend not having the gun in the house with your husband unless there is a professional reason you need to.

If i was on probation and i ran what do u think the chances of getting off of probation if i turn myself in

M. Irene Wilson
Answered by attorney M. Irene Wilson (Unclaimed Profile)

The outcome depends on the tolerance of the judge.  The judge can reinstate probation after the person serves some days in jail as jail therapy or completed drug treatment if this is an issue.  Getting your fees caught up helps your case.   If you need treatment, now is the time to ask for it.  If you are revoked, you will be off probation and incarcerated.  Good luck.
