What can I do if I gave a false police report?

Answered by attorney Mark R. Thiessen
Criminal Law lawyer at Thiessen Law Firm
Filing a false police report or fraud or perjury. Dpends on how much you did. You will still get probation, so you need to fess up. It will be much worse if they find out on their own, and the truth always comes out. You will be cross examined by a defense attorney. The truth will save you.

If a store forgives me for stealing something can I still be arrested for it?

Answered by attorney Nathaniel D Shafer
Criminal Law lawyer at Natty Shafer Law
If they never reported it to the police, then there's no way for them to know about it. Theoretically, they could bring charges until the statute of limitations runs, but if it has been a month or so, it is unlikely the police are going to get involved.

What can happen if my brother was arrested for possession in California?

Answered by attorney Terry Alan Nelson (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at Nelson & Lawless
Can? Jail. What actually happens will depend upon the actual charge[s] filed, the facts and evidence available in defense, rap sheet and record, the defense attorney, the DA, the judge, and whether well they can cut a 'deal' you are willing to accept to avoid going to trial. Hire an attorney unless you know how to effectively represent yourself against a professional prosecutor trying to convict you and put you in jail/prison. If this is in SoCal, and you're serious about doing so, feel free to contact me.
