Can you sit out a warrant instead of paying the fine?

Answered by attorney Mark R. Thiessen
Criminal Law lawyer at Thiessen Law Firm
No. you can turn yourself in, then you have to go to court, then you could do time for the crime. But just can't sit in there with no offer from the DAs Office.

Can I still be charged with murder if there was no evidence that I used the gun?

Cynthia Russell Henley
Answered by attorney Cynthia Russell Henley (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at Cynthia Henley
In Texas, you can be convicted of any offense, including murder, as a party to the offense which means even if you did not do the actual crime, you can be charged, convicted, and punished just as the primary actor (except that you cannot receive death in a capital murder as a party in some instances.)

Can I sue person who pleaded guilty to responsibility of a spouse's death?

Answered by attorney Patrick Short
Criminal Law lawyer at Law Firm of Patrick Short
I'm sorry for the loss of your spouse.  Based on your questions I would recommend that you consult with an attorney as you may or may not be able to do what you are asking.  Your comment about the insurance company and that they "paid me for their liability" may mean you have released them from liability.  I would need to know more of the facts of what occurred and what you did or did not do in relation to what you signed.  Further, there are statute of limitations that can bar suing for the wrongful death of a person and therefore, you need to consult with an attorney.   Again, I'm sorry for your loss.
