Can someone be tried for a crime that someone else has plead guilty to?

More than one person can commit a crime. You could be charged as an aider or abettor. I don't know what state you are in and I can only advise about California cases.

How can an inmate go about getting his cases to run concurrent instead of consecutive?

Most sentences run concurrently. You cannot force the judge who has already ruled that these sentences run consecutively and have already tried to have it changed but were denied. There is nothing more that you can do at this stage.

How do I go about geting an lawyer to reopen my case.

Answered by attorney Diane Buerger
Criminal Law lawyer at The Buerger Law Firm, P.A.
If you mean you have been charged with Violation of Probation -- and are seeking representation on the VOP, in my opinion you will need to go through the process of hiring an attorney to represent you unless your original representation agreement specifically provided that the attorney's representation would include any future VOPs.  Personally, I have never seen or heard of any criminal defense attorney including that in any original representation agreement. If you were represented on the case originally by a Public Defender, or other court-appointed attorney, in state court in Florida --  and are trying to get a PD or court-appointed attorney on the VOP, you will need to appear before the judge and ask for an attorney to be appointed to represent you on the VOP.  Representation on the original case does not carry over to a later VOP case.
