We were recently scammed/frauded for a few thousand dollars from a person pretending to be renting us a house

With regard to the prosecution aspect of your question, you should contact your local law enforcement agency and tell it you want to file a complaint.

What will happen if I am falsely accused of child abuse and molestation?

Your question requires an attorney consultation. It is not a simple question that can be answered on this type of forum. There are many factors that would need to be considered and evaluated. The short answer is that you may be arrested, charged and if there is no plea bargain, go to trial on the charges. I strongly suggest that you contact an experienced criminal defense attorney for a face-to-face consultation and give him/her all of the facts surrounding your situation. He/she would then be in a better position to analyze your case and advise you of your options.

Is there statute of limitation on crimes ( points in florida, not fed but state.) I thought 10 years?

Answered by attorney Diane Buerger
Criminal Law lawyer at The Buerger Law Firm, P.A.
Based on the "details" portion of your question, you may be confused with regard to a statute of limitation on crimes and the rule pertaining to when prior convictions can be counted on a scoresheet.  They are two entirely different things and not related. With regard to whether points for a prior record can be counted on Florida's Criminal Punishment Code scoresheet: Points cannot be scored on a criminal punishment code scoresheet if the defendant, for whom the current scoresheet is being prepared, has (except for the current offense for which he/she is being sentenced) has remained crime free for at least the past ten years AND it has been ten years or more since the defendant last was released from all jail/prison sentences and off probation/parole or any other sanction imposed as a part of the sentence.  Note:  the rule regarding whether a prior juvenile record can be scored is slightly different.
