She can be called as a witness to someone else's crime if it is charged in a different case. However, if her testimony would tend to incriminate her in her case, then she can plead the 5th, which means she would not have to testify as to those issues.

First of all, with multiple tickets, you should have a lawyer represent your son in Court. Often, reductions can be worked out with the prosecutor that will help with the status of the drivers license. In Michigan, a 16 year old would have a graduated license with certain restrictions. Depending on the outcome of all the tickets, the Secretary of State has different options of actions to take. While it is always possible that a suspension would occur, it is also likely that the restrictions will be continued for a longer period and/or a period of probation extended. Consult with an attorney to discuss the details further as well as your options.
