Can I be pulled over for no reason?

default-avatar
Answered by attorney Andrea Rogers (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at The Rogers Law Firm
Police have to have a reason to pull you over, such as a broken taillight, you were swerving, or they could be searching for a particular color of car that was involved in a crime. Or, the police could have seen your license plate number and searched their computer and discovered that you had a warrant or that your license was suspended.

Can an officer just stop me and give me a ticket without explaining my violation?

Answered by attorney Stephen Lewis Freeborn (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at Freeborn Law Offices P.S.
You don't say what the ticket was for that he gave you. By giving you the ticket, I assume he told you (based upon what the ticket is) why he stopped you. If you feel the ticket is wrong, you can certainly contest it.
