Do I go to jail for first time larceny charge?

Jared Clayton Austin
Answered by attorney Jared Clayton Austin (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at Austin Legal Services, PLC
It's possible under the law, but since it's a misdemeanor and your first offense, the odds of you going to jail are the lowest they could be. However, you never know how your particular judge will decide to handle the matter. You may be eligible for a diversion program which would keep the matter off your public record. Consult with an experienced criminal attorney in your area for a review of your case, options, and likely outcomes.

Can a hit and run be dismissed?

default-avatar
Answered by attorney Jared Christian Winter (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at Law Office of Jared C. Winter
Any kind of charge can get dismissed. Whether or not dismissal is likely is impossible to say without more details. A lot more details. Her type of situation is not a good one to just rely on free legal advice off of the internet. She needs a lawyer. The best move you can make to help her would be to help her find a local criminal defense lawyer. Most of us offer free initial consultations. After you meet with some lawyers, if you can't afford to hire one that you like, then have her go to her court date and ask the court to appoint the public defender to represent her.

I was deported from US and I am an Indian resident, can I travel to other countries?

default-avatar
Answered by attorney Lawrence Thomas Lewis (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at Lawrence Lewis, P.C.
I suspect that you can travel, but I do not what will appear on the computer when you attempt to pass through customs in another country. Are you flagged as a sex offender? I don't know. No one knows, until you try to go through customs. If you need some designation removed, you will probably need to retain an attorney.
