Can they issue a warrant of arrest for my failure to appear on a court date while I was under the Department of Corrections custody?

Answered by attorney Lawrence Thomas Lewis (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at Lawrence Lewis, P.C.
No county was aware that you were in prison and then issued a bench warrant. You may want to imagine that, but county employees do not behave in a criminal manner. When you show up to court with proof that you were incarcerated during a period in time when they allege you missed court, you will not be taken into custody at all. IF you are wrong about the dates or the offense, you will be in jail for more than one day.
