What type of charges can be brought against me if I punched the person bullying me and he has to go to the hospital and get stitches?

Answered by attorney Jason William Savela
Criminal Law lawyer at The Savela Law Firm, P.C.
That is possibly a 2nd degree assault carrying 5-16 years prison mandatory but, it could just be a misdemeanor with up to 18 months jail do not talk with police or prosecutors about the facts - just say I want a lawyer - there is nothing you can tell them today that you cannot say tomorrow with a lawyer the bullying etc creates the defense of self defense and can be a complete defense to the charges contact me to discuss representation

If I’m on probation and get a petty theft charge can I get out the same day?

Criminal Law lawyer at Lawrence Lewis, P.C.
Yes, as long as probation is unaware of the arrest. Otherwise, there will be a probation hold. Even if you get out the same day, you may end up back in jail once the probation officer realizes that you have been arrested.
