What is the punishment for a minor distributing a controlled substance on school grounds?

Answered by attorney Harley Ives Gutin
Criminal Law lawyer at Gutin Wolverton
The minor can be treated as an adult. Hopefully he will be addressed in Juvenile Court and will not face prison. If he is treated as any adult he would probably get youthful offender treatment and avoid prison with probation. You need to sit down and talk to a lawyer right away.

What is the penality for filing a false police report of domestic abuse?

Jeralyn Elise Merritt
Answered by attorney Jeralyn Elise Merritt (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at Jeralyn E. Merritt
The penalty for false reporting of a crime in a domestic abuse case is no different from that for falsely reporting any other kind of crime. In New Jersey, where you are from, it is a fourth degree offense to give false information to a law enforcement officer with the intent to implicate another person in a crime. It carries a possible penalty of up to 18 months in jail. Another crime with the same penalty is placing a call to 9-1-1 to falsely report an emergency. In addition, there are less serious offenses of reporting an incident to law enforcement knowing that it did not occur, or reporting that you have information about a crime when you know that you have no such information. These are disorderly offenses in New Jersey with a much lesser penalty. If you have made a false report that has resulted in someone being charged with a crime, I suggest you consult with a defense lawyer in your area who can advise you which of these offenses, if any, may apply to you.

I was caught trespassing, i am a 16 years old. In 1 hr i will be brought in to be questioned by the campus police/public safety.

Answered by attorney William R. Pelger
Criminal Law lawyer at Pelger Law
if you knew or should have known you were not permitted in the building, it may still be a crime. I would talk to a lawyer and not make any statements to the police. if the lawyer advises to talk to the police then do it.
